The Education Media Service (EMS) at KIE use print, radio, TV and film to create learning resources and media lessons that are delivered using books, CD/DVD and with respect to radio, broadcast through a partnership with the KBC (Kenya Broadcasting Corporation).
The contract to migrate to digitally-based technology was awarded to Clyde Broadcast via local partner Optiware Communications.
John Kimotho, Deputy Director of EMS, was delighted with the installation and commented that
“with this new technology it takes us ONE THIRD OF THE TIME to make an equivalent program compared to using our previous equipment, a massive improvement in productivity and quality. Clyde’s training was absolutely first class, with five senior operators taking part, each of whom was subsequently charged with training four additional staff members".
Gyan Vani is a network of FM radio stations, arguably one of the world’s largest educational broadcast operations.
Gyan Vani stations operate as ‘media co-operatives’, with day to day programs being contributed by various educational institutions, government and semi-government organisations, UN agencies, Ministries such as Agriculture and Environmental Health and National level Institutions such as NCERT , NIOS and State Open Universities.
As part of an upgrade and migration to digital technology program, 13 sites are being kitted out with SYNERGY Integrated Digital Broadcast Centres.
